Terms And Conditions When Participating on A Hike

Medical / Travel Insurance

All clients booking a hike or trip with us must have comprehensive travel / medical insurance.

Mountain Rescue

When we sign the mountain register and pay for the hiking permit, mountain rescue is included.

We always do everything possible to ensure the safety of people hiking and travelling with us and will sometimes change the planned route at our discretion if we need to do so to keep everyone safe.

However, when enjoying an outdoor adventure, unforeseen things can sometimes happen. If you need rescue we will call the mountain rescue team, who are well trained and will get you off the mountain. In some cases, an air-force helicopter will be sent to take you to safety at the nearest Drakensberg hotel or hospital, depending on what is needed.

However, once this is done, you are responsible for your medical expenses, which is why we require comprehensive medical insurance, and medical aid is strongly recommended.

However, the mountain rescue / air-force helicopter scenario will only apply if they are required for medical reasons, so if you are just tired or don’t like the weather you will have to pay for a helicopter

Starting the Hike or Trip

It is your responsibility to arrive for the hike or trip at the agreed upon time and date, delays in your arrival which necessitate a change in the starting date of the hike or trip, and therefore its itinerary will not be compensated.

It is your responsibility to inform us of any medical and fitness issues you have so that we can make recommendations and advise you accordingly.

However, it remains your responsibility to ensure that you are sufficiently fit for the level of hike you have booked (our hikes are all graded from Easy to Extreme).
