Taking inspiration from the waterlilies that are the Xigera emblem, this suite is both intricate and calming.
Design Highlights
- Imbizo Dining Table by Chuma Maweni, with hand-thrown ceramic legs and a carved kiaat timber top symbolising “gathering” in Xhosa.
- Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses, featuring walnut and white finishes with West African adobe-inspired geometric motifs.
- Ardmore Ceramic Lamps, each depicting Moremi wildlife in vibrant, hand-painted detail, exclusive to Xigera.
- Sycamore Fork Sculpture by Adam Birch, carved on-site from fallen timber, in collaboration with local artisans.
- Totem Sculpture by Cecil Skotnes, crafted in carved and painted wood, inspired by African mythology and ancestral stories.
- “Loves Me Loves Me Not.II” Coffee Table by John Vogel, a sculptural nesting table in walnut and kiaat.
- “Further in Further Out” by Chris Soal, a textured installation created from recycled bottle tops.
- Three Stripe Karakul Rug by Coral & Hive, handwoven from Karoo-raised wool by South African women artisans.
- Heartwood Bowl, a unique leadwood piece hand-carved over weeks in Port Alfred.
- Bronze Bowls by Charles Haupt, cast in patinated bronze and gilded with gold leaf, reflecting natural forms.
- Chuma Maweni Tableware, a bespoke collection of hand-thrown ceramics made exclusively for the lodge.
- Twin Beds curated by Southern Guild, upholstered and crafted by leading South African designers.
- African Jacquard Bedspread, custom-made to complement the suite’s design.
- Timber Wardrobe by Otto du Plessis, with brass doors etched with Moremi Delta flora, based on drawings by Trevor Potter.
