The suite’s design is spectacular, from the unique egg cup chair to the three-stripe karakul.
Design Features
- Imbizo Dining Table by Chuma Maweni, with hand-thrown ceramic legs and a carved kiaat wood top symbolizing “gathering” in Xhosa.
- Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses, crafted in walnut and blue, inspired by West African adobe architecture and African literature.
- Ardmore Bedside Lamps, each hand-sculpted to reflect the wildlife and colours of the Moremi Reserve.
- Egg Cup Chair by Adam Birch, hand-carved on site from fallen wood in collaboration with local craftsmen.
- Three Stripe Karakul Rug by Coral & Hive, woven from Karoo-raised wool by an all-women South African weaving collective.
- African Jacquard Bedspread, custom-designed to harmonize with the suite’s tones.
- Timber Wardrobe by Otto du Plessis, featuring etched brass panels with Delta-inspired botanical motifs by Trevor Potter.
- “Further in Further Out” by Chris Soal, created from recycled bottle tops sourced in Johannesburg.
- Heartwood Bowl, a one-of-a-kind leadwood piece hand-carved over many days in Port Alfred.
- Bronze Bowls by Charles Haupt, gilded in gold leaf and cast in natural growth patterns.
- Chuma Maweni Tableware, a full hand-thrown ceramic collection made exclusively for the lodge.
- Ebonised Kiaat & Bronze Bed by Duchenne cabinetry, with sculpted bronze finials and luxury European fabrics.
- Ebonised Eucalyptus Side Table by Adam Birch, carved on site with support from local artisans.
