THE JACKALBERRY SUITE
This suite is exceptionally designed to echo the jade-green celadon hues of the jackalberry tree’s fruit.
Design Features
- Imbizo Dining Table by Chuma Maweni, featuring hand-thrown ceramic legs and a carved kiaat wood top symbolizing “gathering” in Xhosa.
- Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses, with celadon and walnut finishes inspired by West African adobe motifs and African literature.
- Ardmore Ceramic Lamps, each hand-sculpted and painted with Moremi wildlife, made exclusively for Xigera.
- Ebonised Side Table by Adam Birch, carved on-site from fallen eucalyptus with support from local carpenters.
- “Figure Head.II” Panels by Cecil Skotnes, carved and painted wooden artworks telling African ancestral stories.
- Mielia Weave Karakul Rug by Coral & Hive, woven by South African women using Karoo-raised Karakul wool.
- “Further in Further Out” by Chris Soal, a striking piece crafted from recycled Johannesburg bottle tops.
- “Loves Me Loves Me Not.II” Table by John Vogel, a sculptural, interlocking coffee table in walnut and kiaat.
- Heartwood Bowl, a hand-carved leadwood piece with distinct African design flair.
- Bronze Bowls by Charles Haupt, patinated and gilded to reflect organic forms.
- Chuma Maweni Tableware, a full set of hand-thrown ceramic pieces created exclusively for the lodge.
- African Jacquard Bedspread, custom-designed to reflect and complement the suite’s palette.
- Timber Wardrobe by Otto du Plessis, with brass doors etched with Moremi flora by artist Trevor Potter.
