Description

THE KNOBTHORN SUITE

The suite’s spring green custom Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses pays homage to the knobthorn tree.

Design Highlights

Each piece at Xigera is a celebration of African artistry and storytelling:

  • Sefefo Dining Table by Peter Mabeo, hand-carved from Panga Panga wood with rhythmic, colourful grooved lines.
  • Ebonised Fork Sculpture by Adam Birch, carved onsite from naturally fallen timber, with support from local carpenters.
  • Ardmore Bedside Lamps, showcasing Moremi’s wildlife in vibrant, hand-painted ceramic forms made exclusively for Xigera.
  • “Loves Me Loves Me Not.II” Table by John Vogel, a sculptural walnut and kiaat piece made from eight interlocking parts.
  • Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses, inspired by Kassena adobe architecture and African literary patterns.
  • Chuma Maweni Tableware, a fully hand-crafted ceramic collection made exclusively for the lodge.
  • Heartwood Bowl, individually sculpted from Limpopo leadwood, each a one-of-a-kind African design piece.
  • “Further in Further Out” by Chris Soal, created from repurposed bottle tops collected around Johannesburg.
  • Four Stripe Karakul Carpet by Coral & Hive, handwoven from Karakul wool by a women-led collective in the Karoo.
  • Bronze Bowls by Charles Haupt, cast with natural patterns and finished in patinated bronze and gold leaf.
  • Ebonised Walnut Bed by Duchenne cabinetry, with sculpted bronze lily finials and luxurious European fabrics.
  • Timber Wardrobe by Otto du Plessis, featuring brass doors etched with Delta landscapes and flora.
